Milestone: Yushu Gu completed the TCRM (Thesis Candidature Review Milestone)

Dr Miaomiao Liu has been awarded the 2022 GRIDD Excellence Award for Mid-Career Researcherer.

Congratulations: Dr Miaomiao Liu awarded NHMRC Investigator Fellowship

Dr Miaomiao Liu has been awarded the NHMRC Investigator Emerging Leadership 1 ($655,150) for the project titled "New method to identify disease-associated drug targets".

New publication: native MS and CIAS-MS for drug discovery

We have reviewed using of native mass spectrometry-based approaches for screening against molecular targets. We also discussed some of the other mass-spectrometry based applications that have been implicated in natural product drug discovery.

New publication: natural product-based PROTACs

We have published a new review that summarises all natural product-based PROTACs. Biochemical assays for ternary complex detection and protein degradation were discussed.

2022 Fragment-based drug design down under

Dr Liu attended the 2022 Fragment-based drug design down under conference at Monash University.

2022 RACI Congress

2022 ASMR Queensland Postgraduate Symposium

The Quinn-Liu group members (Prof Ron Quinn, Dr Miaomiao Liu, Miss Yushu Gu and Mr Tin Mak attended the 2022 RACI Congress (3 - 8 July).

2022 ASMR Queensland Postgraduate Symposium

2022 ASMR Queensland Postgraduate Symposium

PhD student Yushu Gu attended the  2022 ASMR Queensland Postgraduate Symposium and given a poster presentation at the conference.

New publication: novel ligand identification strategy

The group has developed a new MS-based strategy collision-induced affinity selection mass spectrometry (CIAS-MS), which allows separation and dissociation inside the instrument.

New publication: novel JNK ligands identification

The group has identified a series of novel ligands binding to JNK3, which is involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases.

Scholarship available: Development of PROTACs as anti-virals

We have an available PhD scholarship working on anti-viral drug discovery. Find out more here.

New publication: anti-COVID19 drug discovery

The group has found that the prodrug HAO472 directly binds to Nsp9 by using native MS.
